Orville, Howard Thomas was born on June 16, 1901 in Saratoga, Wyoming, United States. Son of William and Lucy D. (Wiant) Orville.

Officer in charge aerographer’s school Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, New Jersey, 1930-1931, 1934-1935. Copilot nat. and international free balloon races, 1934-1935. Aerolog. officer United States Ship Langley, 1931-1932.

Ordered to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, 1950. Member visiting committee Blue Hill Observatory, Harvard. Consultant to general manager Friez Instrument Division, Bendix Aviation Corporation, 1950-1958.

Vice president of Beckman & Whitley, Incorporated, since 1958.
