He graduated from the University of Wayne and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1953, then studied at the University of Michigan and received a master's degree in 1957 and a Ph.D. in the year of 1970.
Career
In 1955-57 he served in the US Army.
Then he worked at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, then at the College of Engineering as a teacher in English in 1965-1970.
He also worked at the Faculty of Arts as an assistant professor in 1970-75.
He was also a director of films and video programs in 1978-80.
