Hugh Ellis-Nanney

He was a Justice of the Peace for Carnarvonshire and Merionethshire and a Deputy Lieutenant of Carnarvonshire and served as High Sheriff of Caernarvonshire in 1870 and as High Sheriff of Merionethshire in 1877. He stood unsuccessfully for Eifion in 1885 and for Carnarvon Boroughs in 1890 and 1895 (when he was defeated by David Lloyd George). He was created a baronet, of Gwynfryn in the Parish of Llanystunadwy in the County of Carnarvon and of Cefndeuddwr in the Parish of Trawsfynydd in the County of Merioneth, in 1898. Ellis-Nanney married the Honourable Elizabeth Octavia Dillon, daughter of Robert Dillon, 3rd Baron Clonbrock, in 1875. He died in June 1920, when the baronetcy became extinct. Lady Ellis-Nanney died in January 1928.

Ellis-Nanney was the only son of Owen Jones-Ellis-Nanney, Doctor of Laws, of Gwynfryn, by Mary Jones, eldest daughter and heiress of Hugh Jones, of Hengwrtucha, Merionethshire.
