Career
Before his career in television, Ian worked in commercial radio and ran a company which operated a number of stations along the south coast. Axton has also owned two commercial radio stations, Andover Sound in North West Hampshire and Newbury Sound in West Berkshire. They were sold on 19 August 2011 to Celador Radio Broadcasting.
In 2007, Axton presented ITN programmes Independent Television News London and the Independent Television News at 5:30, both broadcast on Independent Television. Non-news television credits include The Boat Show for ITV4, as well as The People"s Millions and Climate Change, Make A Difference for Independent Television. From 2007 until 2009, Axton was the main presenter of Independent Television News Meridian alongside co-presenter Sangeeta Bhabra in the south-east region of Independent Television Meridian.
He was also a producer for the programme. Following the departure of Steve Scott in 2010, Axton joined Independent Television News West Country as a main presenter.
He currently co-presents the programme alongside Kylie Pentelow on weekday evenings.
