Igor Vladimirovich Martynov

Background

Igor was born on January 24, 1921, in Sochi, Krasnodar, Russian Federation in a family of doctors.

Education

Soon after Igor's birth, the family moved to Moscow. Here in 1938 he graduated with honors from high school and was adopted to the medical faculty of the 1st Moscow Medical Institute. With the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, he was drafted into the Red Army and transferred to the military faculty of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute, which he graduated in 1942 with a doctor's degree.

Career

He was sent to the front and as a doctor of the battalion of the 38th separate motorized rifle brigade participated in the Battle of Stalingrad from the very beginning and literally until the last day (January 30, 1943) when he received a bullet wound. After the end of the prolonged treatment, he was appointed as a resident of the surgical field mobile hospital (HPPG) of the 7th Guards Army. In the hospitals of this army he served as a senior resident, the head of the hospital - up to and including dismissal in December 1945. Then he graduated from clinical residency at the Propaedeutic Therapeutic Clinic of the 1 st Moscow Medical Institute (1946-1948) and was again drafted into the Soviet Army.

The first post-war years of service I.V. Martynov passed in the Urals, then - in the Moscow region, after which he was enrolled in the Main Clinical Military Hospital named after N.N. Burdenko. Here he occupied the positions of the head of the department of the Central Polyclinic № 3, the senior resident of the cardiological department of the hospital, the chief of the pulmonological department, and then the cardiology department. In the latter, he organized a special so-called anti-shock unit for urgent care for patients with myocardial infarction. In 1969 Igor Vladimirovich headed the newly created Cardiology Center in the hospital, in which he was also the head of the department for patients with myocardial infarction.

Achievements

• In 1975, Igor Vladimirovich was invited to the 4th State Administration under the Ministry of Health of the USSR as a research supervisor for the therapy of the Central Clinical Hospital; from July 1977 to March 1990 - in the same position in the OSBP of the 4th SA, and then up to the present time - again the scientific adviser on the therapy of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical Center of the President of the Russian Federation. Has more than 150 published scientific works - monographs, articles, reports in international forums, etc .; one of the authors of the three-volume "Guide on Diagnosis and Treatment of Internal Diseases" (1991, 1996, 2000).
