Ikuta Shungetsu was born in 1892. Original personal name: Kiyo-hei.
Accompanied his family to Korea while still a school student. Later returning to Japan lived a Bohemian life in Osaka where Ikuta Shungetsu met Sofu Taketomo who influenced him to accompany him to Tokyo. In Tokyo he became a pupil of Choko Ikuta with the view of becoming a writer.
Late in life became interested in politics and joined a terrorist group. Committed suicide by jumping into the Inland Sea while aboard the Sumire-maru while travelling from Kobe to Beppu. Among his works are Reikovr-no-Aki, Kan-sho-no-haru and a novel, Aiyoru Tamashii.
