Ikuzo Wakao was born in 1857 in Yamanashi, Japan.
In 1896 Ikuzo Wakao succeeded to his father's business and endeavored to develop and improve the export of silk yarn. He was director of several companies including Wakao Bank, Toyö Steamship and Nisshin Spinning companies. Was a prominent figure in Yokohama business circles. kuzo Wakao was nominated to House of Peers (1912).
