Worked for drafting bureau, telephone switchboard, aircraft plant, as statistician, for Southern Bureau, Russian Wire Agency and then for newspaper Moryak. Editor, humorous journal Sindetikon. 1923 moved to Moscow and began writing fiction.
Re-wrote stories and reports of worker-correspondents for newspaper Gudok. Contributed essays, feuillctons and film reviews to periodicals Zheleznodorozhnik, 30 duey, Smekhach, Sovetskiy ekran and Vechemyaya Moskva. 1926 began his long collaboration with Ye.
Petrov; 1935 toured United States of America together with Petrov.
