After graduating from Waseda University, joined the Imperial Navy (1943). After the end of World War II, joined the Sun News Photo Agency as a photographer attached to their new weekly Weekly Sun News (1947). When the magazine ceased publication he joined the staff of East West News Agency and came into touch with the technique of American news photography (1949). Resigned to become freelancer (1952). His works have won many prizes and have been excellently commented upon by critics at exhibitions.
