Co-founded magazine Sportsman, 1929. Joined newspaper, Warta Malaya, rose to assistant manager and acting editor 1932-1938. Co-founder, managing director newspaper, Utusan Melayu Press Ltd., 1938.
After Japanese occupation, 1942-1945, returned to Singapore on September 3rd, 1945, and immediately resumed publication of the Utusan Melayu. Appointed to Film Appeal Committee, 1948-1950, Nature Reserves Committee, Malayanisation Commission. Chairman, Public Service Commission, Singapore.
