Inoue Hikaru attended the Military Academy (1871) and was appointed member of general staff of Kumamoto Garrison for six years
Career
Inoue Hikaru made a brief visit to Europe, but hurried back to participate in the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895). Served at Korea with the 3rd Division and then was sent to China with the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) as commander of 2nd Division. Was promoted general (1908).
