Isaak MINTS, USSR Historian. Doctor of History Science since 1935; full member since 1946 and Academy Secretary, since 1961,Department of History Science, USSR Academy of Science. Order of Patriotic War, Class I; two Order of Red Banner of Labor; medals. Member, Communist Party, since 1917.


MINTS, Isaak was born in 1896.


Graduated from the Institute of Red Professors, 1926.


1939-1946 corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science. Since 1957 Chairman, Learned Council on History, of October Revolution,Department of History Science, USSR Academy of Science. Member, group of authors compiling new edition of “Istoriya KPSS” (History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union) (1959).

1960 member, Soviet delegate of historians at 11th International Congress of History Science in Stockholm. During Stalin’s campaign against “cosmopolitanism” was dismissed from his posts, but after death of Stalin again plays important role in Soviet hist, science. 1918-1922 served in Red Army.

Commissar, 2nd Ukrainia Insurgents’ Division, later 2nd Ukrainia Soviet Division. Military Commissar, 1st Cavalry Corps of Red Cossacks. Commissar, Air Force Academy.

Since 1926 lecturer, History Department, Institute of Red Professors. Director, Chairs of USSR History, at: Lenin International School. Ya. Sverdlov Communist University.

Chemyshevsky Institute of History, Philosophy and Literature. Moscow University; Higher Party School, Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Potemkin Moscow City Pedagogical Institute.

Since 1931 Chief Secretary, Main Editorial Board, “Istoriya grazhdanskoy voyny” (History of the Civil War). Until late 1950 Director, Section on History, of USSR During Period of Socialism, Institute of History, USSR Academy of Science.
