Isam Abdel-Magid graduated from the University of Khartoum (Bachelor of Science) in 1977, University of Padova (Diploma in Hydrology) in 1978, Delft University of Technology (Master of Science) in 1979. In 1982 he graduated from University of Strathclyde with Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Mr. Abdel-Magid served in a General Corporation for Irrigation and Drainage, Wad Medani, Sudan, as a civil engineer in 1977. He was an assistant professor of the University of Khartoum, Khartoum, Sudan, from 1982 to 1987. Mr. Abdel-Magid held the post of an associate professor of civil engineering between 1987 and 1988.
From 1988 till 1991 Isam Abdel-Magid University was an assistant professor of civil engineering of the United Arab Emirates, Al-Ain. Since 1991 he held the post of an assistant professor of engineering of Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. In 1995 Mr. Abdel-Magid was appointed professor of water resources and environmental engineering, Omdurman Islamic University. Later he worked in the Sudanese Engineering Council as a specialist engineer.
