Ishikawa Sanshiro was born in 1876.
After graduating from Tokyo Hogaku-in (law school), made a deep study of sociology, to become a Christian socialist.
Ishikawa Sanshiro was on the staff of Heimin Shimbun during the course of the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) and advocated pacifism. Later proceeded to Europe for further studies (1913). Returning home (1920) came to be known as a theoretic leader of nihilism. Among his works are "Nihilism as Social Aesthetics", "History of Western Social Movements" and "Diary of Eight Years of a Bohemian Life."
