He graduated from the pedagogical college in the Rostov region.
In prewar period Apletov worked as a teacher. Since 1947 he was a squadron leader of the stock fund. He lived and worked as a headmaster of school in Moscow, and since 1977 – in his motherland.
Apletov was a participant of Great Patriotic war. In July 1944, a machine-gun platoon of the 164th Rifle Regiment (1st Attack Army, 3rd Baltic Front) under the command of Apletov standed out in battles near Misso village (Vyru district, Estonian SSR).
A street in the city of Boguchar was named after Apletov and in 1995, a memorial plaque was installed.
