Graduate Uman College of Horticulture and Petrovsko-Razumovskiy Agric Academy (now Timiryazcv Agric Academy).
After graduate continued studies in Germany and France. While in France studied fruit-growing and viticulture. After return from France opened fruit nursery at Lokhvitsa, Poltava Province.
1905 sentenced to three years’ exile for revol activities but returned to Poltava Province after proclamation of 17 October 1905 Manifesto. 1908 sentenced to life exile in Siberia and deported to Minusinsk Uyezd, Yenisey Province. 1910 established fruit nursery and experimental orchard near Minusinsk with money sent by his wife.
1915 amnestied for his work on cultivation of Siberian varieties of rennet and other large apples and the breeding of local varieties by hybridization. By 1918 cultivated several thousand hybrid apple and cherry seedlings. 1927-1929 his orchard served as an experimental base of All-Union Horticultural Research Institute, and in 1931 as basis of the Minusinsk Experimental Fruit and Berry Plantation.
1931-1934 worked at Narym State Selection Station at Kolpashevo, Tomsk Oblast. 1934-1936 planted large fruit and berry orchard at Sadovoparkovoye Sovkhoz, Stalinsk, Kemerovo Oblast. 1936-1940 cultivated decorative plants at Maykop experimental station, All-Union Horticultural Research Institute.
