1918 joined Red Army. Fought in Civil War, after which he held a variety of command and staff posts. 1941-1945 commander of a rifle div, chief of staff of a rifle corps, 8th Guards Army, then commander, 64th (29th) Guards Rifle Corps.
1944 took part in Danube offensive and liberation of Yugoslavia. 1945 took part in fighting at Lake Balaton.
