Educated at a pilot’s school, 1931.
From 1927 in Red Army. 1933-1938 various posts with air force units. 1938 commanded bomber squadron in Lake Khasan battles.
1941-1945 commanded bomber, regt, div, then corps. 1941 fought at Smolensk and Moscow. 1942 at Stalingrad; took part in campaigns for liberation of Ukraine and Poland.
Carried out 157 bomber missions.
