Director, Moscow Feature Film Studio; Chairman, Organization Committee, USSR Union of Cinematographic Workers, since 1957; Popular Artist of USSR since 1948. two Order of Lenin; three O. o. Red Banner of Labor; six Stalin Prizes. 1941, 1942, 1943, 1946, 1948, 1951. Member, Communist Party, since 1956.


PYREV, Ivan was born in 1901.


1922-1925 actor at 1st Workers’ Proletarian Culture Theater. Since 1925 film actor, scriptwriter and director. Dep., USSR Supreme Soviet of 1950 convocation.

Deputy Chairman, Organization Committee, International Film Festival, Moscow, 1961. Films: “Postoronnyaya zhenshchina” (Alien Woman) (1929). “Partiyny bilet” (The Party Ticket) (1936).

“Bogataya nevesta” (The Rich Bride) (1938). “Traktoristy” (The Tractor Drivers) (1939). “Svinarka i pastuch” (The Swineherd and the Shepherd) (1941).

“Sekretar raykoma” (The Secretary of the Rayon Committee) (1942). “V shest chasov vechera posle voyny” (At Six in the Evening after the War) (1944). “Skazanie о zemle sibirskoy” (Siberian Saga) (1947) and “Kubanskie kazaki” (Kuban Cossacks) (1950) both of which received international prizes.
