From 1894 studied at Orenburg Theological Seminary, but expelled for participating in a revol circle. From 1900 studied at Medical Faculty, Tomsk University.
Student representative in Tomsk Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee. Arrested for participating in armed demonstration. 1905 member, Omsk Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee.
Collaborated with Kirov and Kuybyshev. December 1905 again arrested. 1906 exiled to Minusinsk.
Fled from exile and worked in Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Petropavlovsk and Odessa. Re-arrested and interned in Krasnoyarsk Fortress. From 1910 physician in Lbishchcnsk.
Again arrested; 1914 drafted into Russian Army and sent to front, where he conducted revol propaganda among the Cossacks. 1917 member, Soldiers' Executive Committee, Southwestern Front. 1919 directed defense of Ural’sk.
1920 deputy head, Cossack Department, All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Member, Organization(s) Bureau for Convening 1st Congress of Working Cossacks. Presidium member at this congress.
Together with Kalinin, toured Don Front in propaganda train. From 1921 assistant head, Main Sanitary Board of Red Army. Also worked for other Soviet institutions.
Religion is bad because it divides people, and is a cause of conflict and war.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
