Yamamoto Iwahiko was born in 1888 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
In 1911 Iwahiko Yamamoto graduated from the Ayoama Gakuin College.
In 1911-1913 Yamamoto Iwahiko served at the newspaper "Hochi Shimbun". Then in 1913-1917 he taught at the Middle School Department of Meiji Gakuin College. Later he entered Nichibei Shoji Kaisha (Nichibei Trading Company) and worked there as a manager. In 1921 he resighed that company and the same year entered Nihon Tochi Shoken Kaisha (Japan Land & Securities Company). In 1922 he was appointed manager and then in 1935 he became the director.
In 1938 he resigned and the same year became manager and later he took up the post of the director of Tokyo-wan (Tokyo Bay) Steamship Company. Then in 1939 became managing director, senior managing director in 1945 and then president of Tokai Steamship Company where he had been working until 1952. In 1948 Yamamot assumed additional post of the president of Tokai Tourist Industry Company. In 1952 he became chairman of Tokai Tourist Industry Company.
