He is currently a professor at Cornell University in the chemistry department. In 2004 he was an editor for Journal of Physical Chemistry.
He was awarded American College of Surgeons Buck-Whitney Award, International Electron spin resonance Society Gold Medal, and Irving Langmuir Award. He also worked at Zavoisky Institute where he was awarded International Zavoisky Award in the name of Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2008 he became recipient of the E. Bright Wilson Award in Spectroscopy and in 2013 he was awarded with Joel Henry Hildebrand Award by the American Chemical Society.
