He would marry Amanda Harris. They would have five children. In 1838, Alban and his family moved to Sauk County, Wisconsin.
Amanda died in 1843.
The following year, Alban re-married and moved to Plover, Wisconsin. During the American Civil War, he was commissioned a colonel with the 18th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Alban would be killed in action at the Battle of Shiloh on April 6, 1862.
He was succeeded in his command by future United States. Representative Gabriel Bouck.
Previously, he had been District Attorney and Treasurer of Portage County, Wisconsin.

Alban was a member of the Senate from 1852 to 1853. He was a member of the Whig Party.
