Career
He was honored with the award on 12 May 1892. Coey was born in Oswego, New York on 12 February 1841. He joined the 147th New York Infantry in September 1862, and mustered ou with the regiment in June 1865.
Coey died on 14 July 1918 and his remains are interred at the San Francisco National Cemetery.
