Enyeart received a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri in 1966 and an MFA from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1972.
The director for the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Enyeart previously worked as executive director for the Friends of Photography in Carmel, California (1976-77), and as curator of photography at the Museum of Art as well as professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Kansas (1968-76).
He has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, including, from NEA, a fellowship and grant in 1975, an individual grant in 1974, and a visiting-artist and lecturer's grant in 1973, University of Kansas Endowment Association in 1970 and 1972, Kansas Geological Survey in 1971, and a fellowship from the Organization of American States through the University of Chile, Santiago, in 1966.
He was a member of SPE, VSW and RPS.
