Career
He was also the Holy See"s representative to the Pakistani government during this period. On 20 May 1948 he was appointed Bishop of Karachi. He was ordained Bishop on 3 October 1948.
On 15 July 1950 he was appointed Archbishop of Karachi.
When French Joseph Cordeiro was appointed Archbishop of Karachi in 1958, he became Bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan. He was also a Council Father at four sessions of the Second Vatican Council.
