Began life in dental surgical profession. Studied art under John Burgess, Stuart Smith, W. L. Leitch, Nottingham School of Artist Medallist at Edinburgh Medical Schools. Medallist at Nottingham School of Artist Has collection of pictures, Chippendale and Sheraton furniture, and Nankin china.
Presented to South Kensington Museum important pictures by George Barret, Henry Dawson, De Loutherbourgh, and water-colour drawings by Hills. Also in 1899, 27 pictures chiefly by living artists. Presented also to the Glasgow Corporation Gallery a series of water-colour drawings by the great English masters. R.I., I.P.O., artist, essayist, connoisseur, expert.
