Settled in Colorado; was bookkeeper, then merchant. Banker, since 1885; governor of Colorado, elected 1902 for 2-year term, expired January 10, 1905. Candidate for re-election, 1904. but Democratic candidate was seated for short time, 1905.
The legislature declaring him elected, served as governor for 1 day when he resigned in favor of the lieutenant governor.
