Robb, James Hampden was born on October 27, 1846 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of James and Louisa (Werninger) Robb.

Education

Educated in Europe, and military school, Sing Sing, New York. Entered class of 1866 at Harvard, but was not grad.

Career

In banking and cotton business, New York, 1868-1886 (retired). Member State Assembly, 1882. State senator, 1884-1885.

Commissioner and president Park Board, New York, 1887-1890. Commissioner and treasurer original board commissioner Niagara State Reservation. Lieutenant colonel and acting adjutant general 1st Brigade N.G.S.N.Y. Declined appointment as assistant secretary state from President Cleveland, 1887.
