Then taught the classics in Columbia, South Carolina. Was adjt., 13th regiment, South Carolina. vols., in Stonewall Jackson’s army corps, under Lee in Virginia, during Civil war. After war engaged in journalism.
Moved to Washington; 1873-1884, lived in New York.
Member Florida State Constitutional Convention, 1886. Legislature, 1887; is still a citizen there, though from 1887 clerk in Treasury Department, residing in Washington. Author: The Living Writers of the South, 1869.
