A reader-rhetoric for developmental writing courses, this text links reading and writing skills and encourages students to draw on their own experiences. Extensive reader-response activities involve journal writing and work in small groups. Reading assignments are followed by a Dialogue Journal activity: two-page responses that students exchange with other students or hand in for instructor feedback. Teaches critical-thinking skills students can transfer to other course work.
