Background
Gadhia was born in Stourbridge, West Midlands, and educated at Culford School, Bury Street Edmunds, followed by Royal Holloway, University of London.

From 1982 Gadhia trained in accountancy with Ernst & Young after which she worked at Norwich Union from 1987. From 2001-2006 she worked for Fred Goodwin at the Royal Bank of Scotland. She became Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Money in 2007.
