Jean Vanesch studied photography at Institut Saint-Luc.
Jean Vanesch has never worked as an industrial or commercial photographer, and his photographs can only be seen in exhibits or portfolios. His photographic interests have changed over the years, ranging from suburban areas, the countryside, nature, and the textures found in nature. He is a contributor of photographs to Cliche, Art Press, La Photographie Européenne, Sogno di Carta, Contretype, and L'Histoire Continue. His works have been included in permanent collections at the Musée de la Photographie, Charleroi, Belgium; Musée de la Phtographie de l'Elysee, Lausanne, Switzerland; Chateau d’Eau, Toulouse, France; FRAC, Aix en Provence, France; Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, France; and Arthoteque de Lyon, France. Individual exhibitions include Galerie Sogno di Carta, Liege, Belgium, 1983; Galerie Pennings, Eindhoven, The Netherlands; and Galerie J. P. Lambert, Paris, France, 1994.
Jean Vanesch married Lucia Radochonska in 1974. They have a daughter, Carole.
