Destined to take its place among the classics of Christian literature, this dramatic tale of a young girl of the Middle Ages, who finds her heart's desire at the Castle of her King, is in the tradition of the great allegorists: Lewis, Tolkien, MacDonald, Hurd, Bunyan, going all the way back to the parables of Scripture. A peasant girl, fleeing the outlaws, comes with her brother to the Castle, where the Holy Spirit, in the guise of "Uncle," the Archduke, introduces them to the Prince. They are transformed into a prince and princess, and under the guidance of Uncle and wise teachers begin the training necessary to royal children. They undergo many adventures with their new friends, characters who will delight and edify the reader. Although sincerely motivated to please, there are many missteps along the way to Christian maturity, but each step brings new revelation as they learn to pray, to study the King's Book, to trust and obey. You will laugh and cry with Christine over her triumphs and failures, because they will remind you of yourself. Even though you will learn much of life in the Middle Ages, you will learn even more about life in Christ.
