Jeanette Ray was a teacher at Bay’s Nursery School, Macedon, NY, from 1963 to 1974. Between 1974 and 1985 she served as a director and teacher of YMCA Preschool, Canandaigua, NY. During 1987-1989 Mrs. Ray held the post of a teacher at Wee Wonders, Victor, NY. In 1990-1993 she taught at Child Time Children’s Center, Fairport, NY. Later she was a President of the woman’s group of her church as well as a Sunday School teacher and member of the senior choir.
Mrs. Ray was widely known due to her flannelboard stories. She claimed that “the flannelboard not only involves children, it gives them help with many skills: intellectual, emotional (acting out feelings, expressing personalities), social growth; even physical skills are used in manipulating pictures and telling the story."
