Mrs. Ray was born in Rushville, New York, United States, on May 14, 1928. She was a daughter of Guy and Marjorie (Twitchell) Graham.

Education

Mrs. Ray attended Buffalo State College and Monroe Community College and Empire State College, Associate of Arts.

Career

Jeanette Ray was a teacher at Bay’s Nursery School, Macedon, NY, from 1963 to 1974. Between 1974 and 1985 she served as a director and teacher of YMCA Preschool, Canandaigua, NY. During 1987-1989 Mrs. Ray held the post of a teacher at Wee Wonders, Victor, NY. In 1990-1993 she taught at Child Time Children’s Center, Fairport, NY. Later she was a President of the woman’s group of her church as well as a Sunday School teacher and member of the senior choir.

Achievements

• Mrs. Ray was widely known due to her flannelboard stories. She claimed that “the flannelboard not only involves children, it gives them help with many skills: intellectual, emotional (acting out feelings, expressing personalities), social growth; even physical skills are used in manipulating pictures and telling the story."
