Jeanne P. Darcey is an American lawyer and partner of the Boston law firm Palmer & Dodge, based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in 1958 in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1983. Her documented legal practice is centered in Boston, including work with the successor firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge.
Background
Darcey was born in 1958 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the largest city in the state. Manchester grew as an industrial city on the Merrimack River, where the textile mills of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company shaped its economy for much of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
She later entered the legal profession in Massachusetts. She was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1983, the license that authorized her to practice law in that state. Her subsequent career developed in Boston, the state capital and the center of Massachusetts legal practice.
Career
Darcey's documented professional base was the Boston law firm Palmer & Dodge, where she worked as a partner. The firm's Boston practice had earlier appeared under the name Palmer, Dodge, Gardner and Bradford, in which Robert Gray Dodge served as senior partner. Dodge, a Boston lawyer who practiced for 67 years, was known among peers as "the dean of the Massachusetts bar."
In 2005 Palmer & Dodge, then a Boston firm of about 180 attorneys known for public finance work and its representation of life sciences and technology companies, merged with Edwards & Angell effective November 1, 2005. The combined firm became Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, based in Boston with additional offices in other states. By 2007 Darcey was named among the counsel for the firm in a bankruptcy filing concerning Movie Gallery, Inc.
The firm's name continued to change through later combinations. It merged with Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon in 2011 to form Edwards Wildman Palmer, and in January 2015 it combined with Locke Lord, which adopted the Locke Lord name.
