Jen-Leih Wu, Chinese molecular biologist, educator. Named one of Ten Most Distinguished Youth award, 1986; recipient Distinguished Research award National Science Council, 1986, 87, Excellent Research award National Science Council, 1988.


Wu, Jen-Leih was born on June 22, 1946 in Taichung, Taiwan. Son of Mao-Cheng Wu and Yuan Hsiung.


Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1968. Master of Science in Agricultural Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1971. Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry, University Arkansas, 1975.


Associate research fellow Institute Zoology Academy Sinica, Taipei, 1976-1979, senior research fellow Institute Zoology, since 1979, deputy director Institute Zoology, 1983-1989, director Institute Zoology, since 1990. Visiting fellow National Institute Environmental Health Science/National Institutes of Health, 1978-1979. Visiting scholar department biology Johns Hopkins University, 1984.

Visiting scholar department biochemistry and molecular biology Harvard University, 1985. Adjunct professor Institute Fishery Sciences, National Taiwan University, Taipei, since 1988. President CODATA, Academy Sinica, Taipei, since 1990, executive secretary COBIOTECH/International Council for Science, since 1994.
