Mr. Sun graduated from the preparatory department of Peiyang University in Tientsin, China in 1900. Then he was then sent to Japan to study and was graduated from the Japanese Imperial Law College.
Jen-yu Sun travelled in the South Seas in 1901 stuying industrial conditions. He organized Fengtien University and was a professor there until 1904.
Mr. Sun was a chief of statistics in the Ministry of War, professor of statistics in the Ministry of War, professor of finance, High Police and Law College, chief of police in department in the Ministry of Interior in 1912, president of the Kiangsu Lawyers' Association in 1912, member of the Lower House in the First Parliament in 1913, councillor of the Chinese Legation in Japan in 1914.
Then he resumed his seat in the Lower House in 1916 and in 1922, became a chief of the law bureau in the Cabinet Office in 1924, chief secretary of Dr. W. W. Yen's Cabinet in 1924 and Chief Secretary of the Tientsin Municipal Government.
