In 1980 Jennifer attended Rutgers University, in Tours, France. Jen has a Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College, an Master of Arts from Arcadia University, and an Honorary Doctorate from Gettysburg College. She also attended West Chester University, and University of Iowa.
Jennifer is a professional writer since 1989. She also was a substitute high school teacher of English and foreign languages and writing instructor for public school gifted education programs. She has taught writing and children’s literature at West Chester University and Bryn Mawr College and gives school and public lectures throughout the year. She also holds the position of an artist in residence in the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

On June 12, 1982, Jennifer married Neil Bryant, with whom she has a child Leigh Bryant.
