The Fay E. Ingersoll Memorial Award was established in 2015
by her husband Norris and daughter Debora in tribute to Fay's
42-year association with the school of nursing, 23 years of which
she served as director. In this capacity she was diligent in pursuing
and achieving national accreditation for the newly decreed
associate degree program. Fay exemplified excellence in those
qualities inherent to the profession of nursing; the same qualities
that permeated the fabric of her personal life as a wife, mother,
friend and her professional life as a nurse educator.
The criteria for this award is as follows:
- Provides comprehensive, skillful nursing care based on scientific
and psychosocial principles.
- Communicates clearly with patients, family and members of the
professional team.
- Integrates teaching principles in the promotion of health care in
appropriate settings.
- Demonstrates integrity, commitment to life-long learning and
awareness of one's own abilities and limitations.
- Displays self-confidence and encourages development of the
same in others.
- Is punctual in performing tasks and meeting deadlines in a timely
manner.
- Achieves balance in one's professional and personal life.
