1 son, John Marion. Reared on farm. Admitted to Oklahoma bar, 1900 and began practice at Lexington. Moved to Shawnee, 1905, Oklahoma City, 1920.
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma by appointment of governor, January 7, 1924-January 7, 1925. Resumed practice. Successfully defended A. L. Welch, state insurance commissioner of Oklahoma, in impeachment trial, 1915, also Lieutenant Governor M. E. Trapp (later governor) in impeachment trial, 1921, and Governor J. B. A. Robertson, under indictment for bribery, 1922. Appeared successfully for State of Oklahoma in District Court of the United States and Supreme Court of the United States against Governor Walton, 1923, 24, when the latter sought to enjoin enforcement of decree of the Senate of Oklahoma, by which he was impeached and removed from office, successfully defended retiring bank commissioner in the administration of Governor Murray, on charge of embezzlement, 1936.
In 1939-1940 successfully defended Oil Workers International Union in strike at plants of Mid-Continent Petroleum Corporation throughout Oklahoma. Now engaged in private practice.
