Jick G. Wong studied civil engineering at the University of Michigan, U.S.A., graduating in 1911 with C.E. degree (civil engineer).
After his studies in the USA Jick G. Wong returned to China in 1912 and was appointed assistant chief surveyor of the Canton Public Works. Then worked as a senior assistant engineer of the Szechuen-Hankow Railway in 1913-1922. He joined the Chihli River Commission as an office engineer and later the Peking-Suiyuan Railway as district engineer.
Mr. Wong assisted in the rendition of Kiao-tsi Railway in Shantung, China and was appointed member of the valuation commission of the said railway. He worked as senior engineer of the same Railway for five years until 1927 when he left the Railway and organised a partnership with Theodore Boehnert, a firm of civil engineers and architects at Tsingtao. He was a senior technical expert of the Ministry of Railways of the National Government in 1928-1930. After that Jick G. Wong was appointed principal technical assistant to J. J. Mantell on Investigation of Government Railways for the period of 1929-1930. Then he was appointed as an assistant Chief Engineer of the Nanking-Shanghai and the Shanghai-Hangchow-Ningpo Railways.
Mr. Jick G Wong continued working as a Chief Engineer of the Peiping-Hankow Railway. He was appointed a President of the Association of Chinese and American Engineers in 1933-1934. He was also a member of Special Commission for the Investigation of Dyke Work Expenditure of Hupeh Province in 1938, a director of the Association of Chinese and American Engineers, vice-president of the Tsingtao Lions Club and a member of the General Committee of the Tsingtao International Club.
