Tsuuchi Jihe was born in 1683 in Osaka, Japan.
In 1700, Jihe Tsuuchi migrated with his father to Edo (now Tokyo), where he soon established himself as a playwright. His dramas were unique inasmuch as that they were a blend between historical and real life characters, of which Takara Soga Nyogo-ga-shima Dai (Island of Young Women) is most representative.
