Background

Jim DuFresne was born on August 14, 1955 in Farmingham, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Harris and Eleanor (maiden name: Nicolas) DuFresne.

Education

Jim graduated from Michigan State University with a journalism degree.

Career

After graduating from the University, was soon headed to Juneau, Alaska as the outdoors and sports editor of the Juneau Empire. He worked at Booth Newspapers, Lansing as outdoor writer since 1987. He is currently main contributor to www.MichiganTrailMaps.com, a resource web site devoted to trail users and the promotion of trails in Miichigan.

Achievements

• In 1980 Jim became the first Alaskan sportswriter to win a national award from Associated Press.
