Career
Born and raised in Glasgow, Symon began his career at Radio Clyde in 1981 as a relief presenter for the Drivetime programme Clydewide Tonight. Afterwards, he continued to present various programmes for the station. By 1983, Symon had joined Scottish Television (now STV Central) as a continuity announcer and newsreader.
During this time, he voiced many nationwide television advertisements in the United Kingdom and was also chosen as the voice for a talking version of an Action Manitoba toy.
Symon continued announcing on a freelance basis when he became a Presentation Director for Scottish television in 1988. He also announced and directed transmission for Grampian Television.
He left Scottish Television in 2003 but rejoined seven years later as an out-of-vision presenter for STV"s regional overnight strand The Nightshift. After a stint presenting on West Sound Radio in Ayr, Symon joined Clyde 2, the Department of Administration and Management station of Radio Clyde.
Until 2014, he also presented a networked late night show for Bauer Radio"s network of Scottish Department of Administration and Management stations.
