He graduated from Tokyo University in 1922 and joined the diplomatic service.
He taught school before entering a writer's career. Made his debut with Hayabusa-no-Ginji, a story set in the feudal period in 1924. It was followed by many short stories and novels including Kurama Tengu, a long novel.
He is younger brother of Hoei Nojiri.
