John Frederick Chadbourne Jr. was born on October 10, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, United States, to John Frederick Chadbourne and Wilhelmina (Williams) Chadbourne.

Education

He studied at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1970, followed by a Master of Science in Engineering in 1971. He later completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Engineering at the same institution in 1977.

Career

Chadbourne began his professional career as a staff consultant at Environmental Science and Engineering, Inc. in Gainesville, Florida from 1971 to 1974, where he contributed to applied research and consulting projects in environmental engineering.

From 1974 to 1977, he worked as a proprietary environmental consultant in Orlando, Florida, providing independent advisory services on environmental compliance and engineering solutions.

In 1977, he joined Lafarge Corporation in Dallas as Environmental Manager, a role he held until 1987. During this period, he was responsible for environmental compliance programs within heavy industrial operations, particularly in cement manufacturing.

He then served as Vice President of Technical and Regulatory Affairs at Systech Environmental Corporation in Dallas from 1987 to 1992, overseeing regulatory strategy and technical operations related to waste management and industrial environmental systems.

Chadbourne returned to Lafarge Corporation in 1992 as Director of Environment and Industrial Hygiene, serving until 1994. In this capacity, he managed environmental safety standards and industrial hygiene programs across company operations.

In 1994, he founded Chadbourne Environment and Safety Programs Inc. in Dallas, where he served as President until 2020, leading environmental consulting and regulatory compliance initiatives.

From 1997 to 2002, he served as a Visiting Professor of Environmental Engineering at Southern Methodist University, contributing to academic instruction and professional training in environmental engineering.
