John D. Chubb was born in 1869 in Plymouth, England, United Kingdom. He arrived in the U. S. early in life, and his identification with Chicago began in 1898.
Fom 1898 until his retirement in 1941 Mr. Chubb planned and built schools, recreation buildings and other accessory structures in cities and towns of Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois, although it appears that none of his work was designed for Chicago. Altogether his executed commissions are said to have totaled over fifteen million dollars, with the following named probably his most important buildings: Senior High Vocational School at Two Rivers, Wis.; Senior High at Kenosha, Wis.; Vocational School at Battle Creek, Mich.; Maine Township High School, Cook County, Illinous.; Senior High and Vocational School at Quincy, illinous., and the Lincolnwood School at Skokie.
