Background
John was the son of Edmund Fettiplace of Besselsleigh in Berkshire (now Oxfordshire) and his wife, Margaret, daughter of John Mordaunt, 1st Baron Mordaunt.

He was also appointed High Sheriff of Berkshire for 1568 and 1577. He died in 1580. He has a fine effigial church monument in Appleton Church.
Membership
He was the Member of Parliament in 1558 for Berkshire.
