Remained on The Mercury staff till 1895.
Then became sub-editor Launceston Daily Telegraph. Member London District Institute of Journalists since 1895. Took active part in promoting Federation in Tasmania.
Represented Tasmania at Intercolonial Fruit Congress at Mildura, Victoria. Member of Council Tasmanian Agricultural and Pastoral Society. Editor since 1896, and part proprietor since 1905, The Daily Telegraph, Launceston, Tasmania.
